Welcome to the school bus page!

Himawari Preschool uses a full-sized school bus for taking many field trips, as well as for daily transportation. Take a look at the picture below, and click on the bus icon to see a map of our complete bus route (not all stops in use at present).
These are the Himawari School buses. The big one can seat 35 adults, or 40 children, and one wheelchair. It has a CD player, and has a microphone for karaoke! The small one can fit 19 kids or 14 adults.
Click here to make a copy of the bus in black and white for coloring.

Here are some pictures of seats in the bus. We have 2 different types of seat belts. Seat belts are added to the seats, because they make parents and kids feel safer. However, they are not required in a school bus, because it is the safest way to travel in the US -- more than 87 times safer than going to school by car. School buses has special construction, lights, and other safety features that make them very, very safe..
This is where our bus driver sits. He has many special mirrors, lights, and signals for making the trip as safe as possible. The bus is very tall and big; this makes it easy to see, and also very safe inside if there is an accident. There's a fire extinguisher, and a first-aid kit in the overhead cabinet.

School bus drivers take special training, and the Himawari School bus driver also has training in CPR and First Aid. There is a cell-phone on the bus for emergency contact, and he can speak both English and Japanese.
